from 3.95

As gold provided plentiful fortunes and a way of life for the early miners. The buffalo provided a way of life for the Plains Indians. The very existence of our people was provided by the Buffalo. Everything from food to shelter not a single piece of the buffalo was to go to waste. As more white settlers came into the area Indian's started to lose access to their traditional hunting grounds. The Indians relied on the Buffalo for thousands of years, and is the white man started killing off The Buffalo, they also started killing off the Indians. During the late 1800s the Buffalo started to become scarce, this forced a lot of the Native Americans on to reservations. 1872-74 some 4.5 million buffalo were slaughtered. And just like gold in a gold rush, greed, Selfish corruption and hunger for power made the buffalo almost extinct by the 19th century. Not only killing off the bison but killing off a way of life.
